Ice Fishing is the arctic form of meditation. Trout and arctic char lure many fishermen to the fells of Kaldoaivi and Paistunturi in the winter. To have a cup of hot drink while fishing at a frozen lake is a great winter experience as well as a glimpse to the local life. On its best icefishing is over the spring months from mid February to late April.
We recommend ice fishing with local guide for the best and safe experience.
REMEMBER YOUR RESPONCIBILITY as Utsjoki is an area known for its clean and beautiful nature. Please keep it that way and leave your surroundings free of any trash and take with you any gear or trash you take to the nature. Please do not kill any fish if you’re not planning to eat it – the local way is to only take what you need.
